Come on in and take a look around...
KITCHEN
dramatic play area *photos added soon*
-Children are allowed to help set the table, giving them the opportunity to make choices and create order.
-When feasible, children are permitted to help with the meal preparation, toning their motor skills and giving them a sense of accomplishment.
-I strive to provide the children at least one choice for each meal, such as choosing a condiment or which character they want on their utensils.
-Children are encouraged to put their own dishes into the sink when finished with their meal.

FAMILY ROOM

-This is the area where we have circle time: reading stories, singing songs, fingerplays, etc.
-We occasionally watch children's movies on the big screen and play educational electronic games.
|

The children are encouraged to "explore" the reef - many enjoy watching the fish and older children love to see what they can find living on or under the rocks.

DIAPERING NOOK

-All children in diapers are changed at the diapering area. For your child's safety, the security strap is always used.
-A wipes warmer is used to make diaper changes more comfortable for the children :)
-Hand washing is performed after each diaper change. Alcohol-free sanitizer is used immediately after each diaper change to prevent contamination of any surfaces prior to hand washing.
-The diapering area is sanitized after each use, washed as necessary and cleaned with white vinegar at least daily.
-Disposable diapers are immediately placed in the diaper pail; should you choose to use cloth diapers, they will be placed in the diaper pail you provide and must be removed from our facility frequently.
-All medicines, ointments and hazardous materials are kept in a cabinet equipped with a safety latch.
|
POTTYING AREA

-Children are offered varied levels of assistance and privacy based on their age, personality and progress with potty-training.
-For the convenience of the children, this area is equipped with a step-stool and attached child's potty seat at all times.
-To encourage proper hygiene, an automated handsoap dispenser (containing naturally-derived soap) and individual cloths are provided for the children to use.
-The sink and pottying area is sanitized after each use, washed as necessary and cleaned with white vinegar at least daily.
-Children are guided and encouraged in proper handwashing and toothbrushing.
-Each child uses their own age-appropriate toothbrush.
-All hazardous materials are kept out of reach or in the cabinet equipped with a safety latch.
|
ACTIVITY AREA
-Child-size table, desk and chairs make learning comfortable and fun!
-This area is used for puzzles, worksheets, playdoh, games, activity books and not-so-messy crafts.
(We use the kitchen table for messy activities, since the large work area can be easily covered with a tablecloth.)
